Dairy-Free Spinach Dip


A classic favourite, this dish is bound to be a crowd pleaser at any holiday party. Made with whole food, waistline friendly ingredients, this spinach dip is a healthier take on the traditional festive treat. Enjoyed best with sourdough bread, it also pairs well with pita chips, gluten-free crackers and raw veggies. 

Why dairy-free? Aside from being a horrifically cruel industry, dairy causes mood disorders, food addictions, has been linked to infertility, excess mucus production, respiratory problems, digestive problems, constipation, gas, bloating, diarrhea, acne, rashes, skin irritations and redness and even depression. So whether the dairy is organic, from grass-fed cows, or the millions of unlucky factory farmed cows, it's all the same. 

300 grams (1 cup) organic soft tofu
3⁄4 cup cashews, pre-soaked for at least two hours
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp nutritional yeast
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
4 cups spinach, shredded


Combine the tofu, cashews, onion, garlic, nutritional yeast, lemon juice and apple cider vinegar in a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Scoop it out in a bowl with a spatula and set aside. Next, shred the spinach and steam it until soft. Stir the spinach into the dip.
